Presented by the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office, come learn about Law Related Topics (POA's, Living Wills, Advanced Directives, Estate Planning, etc.), Fraud Protection (ID theft, financial exploitation, online scam trends, investment fraud, etc.) and Crime Prevention, Safety & Health (home & community safety, first aid, fall prevention, dementia risk reduction, and emergency preparedness).

There will be workshops, vendor booths, Ask-A-Lawyer, door prizes, and more!

CPR, AED & First Aid

Classes are held in Parker and Centennial


The South Metro Safety Foundation offers American Heart Association-certified classes that cover adult, child, and infant CPR/AED and First Aid. These classes are completed in just seven hours and are taught by experienced instructors who ensure that you achieve the highest level of skill competency. Upon completion of the course, you will be certified for two years. This one-day class is ideal anyone who wants to learn CPR/AED and First Aid.

Safety Skills for Older Adults

September 6, 2024
9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

This free class utilizes national and local data to focus on the top risks to older adults (60+) and actionable steps you can take to prevent injuries. Drcog – the Area Agency on Aging – will also provide a brief presentation on different services offered at no cost to help people remain independent in the community.
This class includes:
How to spot a stroke
Cardiac arrest vs. heart attack
Choking
Fall Prevention
How to get off the ground if you experience a fall where is no injury
Ways to increase stability
Tips to find and fix hazards in the home
Free aging resources within Douglas, Jefferson, and Arapahoe Counties, and who to call for help with resource navigation.

Caring for Older Adults

Helping an older family member or close friend is an important role. This free class will provide actionable steps that you – informal caregivers, family members, and friends – can take to limit risks for the older adult(s) in your life. The information provided is beneficial for those who help daily, and for those who may only help an older adult occasionally.

We are attempting to gauge interest in this class so we can plan to make it available in the future. Please sign up below if you would like to be included on the email list should this class become available.

Driving Skills

(TBD Date and Location) 
Class Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

Adult/Senior Driving Skills is a hands-on driving class, perfect for new Colorado residents, senior citizens, and all other adults age 22 and older who would like to improve their ability to handle challenging winter driving situations. Defensive driving skills and crash avoidance techniques taught include: Skid control and recovery Threshold braking Arm lock and hand-to-hand steering Visual perception training. Classes are scheduled at the Safety Foundation’s driving range in Parker, Colorado. Students will use their personal vehicle during class.
Class Cost: $60.00

Free Car-Seat Inspections!

The South Metro Safety Foundation and South Metro Fire Rescue are pleased to offer courtesy inspections of child safety seats and booster seats for families that live or work in our fire district. A car seat inspection will take up to 30 minutes per car seat. If you have two or more car seats please book two appointments OR one car seat to be fitted into two cars please book two appointments using the link below.

These inspections are held almost every Wednesday
from 10am - 2pm at

South Metro Safety Foundation

The South Metro Safety Foundation offers frequent classes and resources for a variety of topics for our  community members. 

Some of the classes offered include:
Hands-on Defensive Driving courses taught by First Responders.

Caring for Older Adults - information for caretakers (both in an official and unofficial capacity) to better care for their aging adults. 

CPR, AED & First Aid - AHA-certified classes that cover adult, child, and infant CPR/AED and First Aid. 

SMSF also provides Car Seat Inspections, and AED's are available for purchase.
